Let It Snow

Owen got the chance to be out in the snow for the first time this week and he loved it for the most part but at one point I heard him telling the snow to "Go back to the sky because you're getting in my face!" These pics were taken before he got mad at the snow.

We couldn't find his gloves so he borrowed some from his Daddy.

The snow was blowing in his face so much he couldn't keep his eyes open!

Yummy!
Owen decided they need to take a walk, I got out the video camera when they got to the end of the driveway and he shouted "Bye Mom! Have a good twip!", I think he forgot he was the one leaving.

Rub A Dub Dub Owen in the Tub

He never wants to take a bath anymore but every single time he does, I cannot get him out! There is something about it that makes him become silly the minute he gets in...

He still loves to play peek-a-boo, but now he starts by saying "Say where Owen Mommy". I guess he thinks I need instructions. :)

Time out for a serious pose.

And now he's back to being silly.

I don't think he's breathing in this one from laughing so hard!

Owen's Art

When I went to pick Owen up from Grandma Shirley's house (his babysitter) yesterday she quickly handed me this picture he had colored. She was quick to point out how well he stayed in the lines (on part of it) for just turning two last month. The other kids at her house are going to preschool in August so she has been working with them a lot and instead of Owen playing while they're working, he gets right up there with them. Nathan and I are very grateful to have Grandma Shirley in Owen's life.

A Night of a New Year

We went to Shane and Amber's to ring in the new year and had a good time and a good meal at a surprising time of 11:30 pm! I always expect to eat late when Shane is cooking but it was definitely worth the wait.
Allie and her famous "Cheese" face, I think I caught her just before it got too cheesy.

Nathan had been chasing them and got good enough to throw them both on the ottoman at the same time, needless to say they loved it.

Monkey-see...

Monkey-do

She had tucked him and was just going in for the kiss.

Our Crazy Christmas Summary

As most of you know we have routinely been known to have eight to ten Christmas functions every year, which was manageable before we had Owen but now it's just plain crazy! He did extremely well with all of them until the evening of Christmas. We started out the day at 6 am, headed to Grammy's (Nathan's mom) at 8, to my grandmas at noon, then to Namma's (my mom) after that. He eventually took an afternoon nap but then didn't want to wake up and did not care to open any more gifts. Here are a few pics that sum up the day.
Santa brought him a kitchen (a little to his Daddy's dismay) and all he wanted to do was play with the new phone it came with instead of open his other gifts.
When we got to Grammy's house he found the motorcycle he had asked Santa for! He did the whole deep-breathe-in-thing because he was so excited.

Then at my grandma's house (BoBo's) he got a set of "doctor tools" and was going around to everyone telling them they didn't feel good and he needed to doctor them. He recently asked me to put the "telescope" around his neck "just like Dr Wilson".

Between my grandma's house and my parents house is a field with a little creek and my dad taught Owen how to spit in the water every time he crosses it. He was sitting on my lap helping me drive to Namma's and we ended up spitting for quite a while despite the cold!
As we had all just finished opening our stockings, Owen started crying and wouldn't stop with any bribing (gum, juice, presents) and then he cried out "I want pancakes!"...I at first said no but then realized that was the only way he was going to stop so Nathan read him a book while he ate and his Aunt Jill didn't let anyone (including her own excited kids) open a single gift until Owen was back in the living room. After he finished eating he said "Mommy, I'm done crying now". The poor little guy was exhausted from all of our running around.

All was good with his new Diego back pack and Clayton giving him some attention.

Eli and Clayton got a hunting blind and it of course had to be put up in the middle of the living room floor so the little boys had fun in there too. Owen loves his Uncle Brian!

First Love

My good friend Amber and I had our children in December 2006 and it has been so great to be able to share this incredibly rewarding and sometimes challenging experience of motherhood with her. Owen and Allie typically play together really well and as you'll see in the pictures below Allie usually pushes the limits a little more than Owen...

"That doesn't look like a good idea Allie", says Owen.

"You should probably get down from there..."

Allie: "He he he, look at me!!"

Boys Will Be Boys

While the big boys were playing basketball, the little boys were playing a game of their own.

They were pretty proud of themselves.

Eli, Easton and Clayton Hubbard...my three favorite nephews.

Happy 2nd Birthday Owen

The big day started out with a lot of Happy Birthday to Owen...we sang so many times his waffle was cold by the time he ate it. :)

He was so proud of his new undies I decided to start potty training him that next week...three weeks later he became a no diaper wearing big boy!

PaPa Jim and Grammy got him these boots and he had to put them on as soon as they came out of the box!

Despite the fact that it was brand new he felt it already needed a little tuning up.

He was "shooting" everything in sight for a week straight...turkeys, deer, chickens and even kittens. (Nathan was pretty proud)
